Crochet a Heart for Mother's Day - Free Pattern
Ch. 18
Row 1: start in the 6th ch from the hook and work dc 1, *ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc 1,* repeat ** 5x. Turn your work. Row 2: Ch 4 (= dc + ch 1), dc 1 in the 2nd st of the previous row, * ch 1, skip 1 st, dc 1 in next st*, repeat ** 5x. Turn your work. Rows 3-14: Repeat row 2. Row 15: This row is worked along 3 sides. Ch 1, sc 2 in the first 3 ch spaces, ch 5, skip 1 space and then work sc 2 in the next 2 spaces, sc 2 in the last space, ch 1, sc 2 (=corner). sc 2 in the next 2 spaces, ch 5, skip 1 space, sc 2 in the next 3 spaces, ch 1, sc 2 in the next 3 spaces, ch 5, skip 1 space, sc 2 in the next 2 spaces, sc 2, ch 1, sc 2 in the last space (= corner), sc 2 in the next 2 spaces, ch 5, skip 1 space, sc 2 in the last 3 spaces. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Row 16: Attach the yarn in the first sc of the previous row. Work trc 15 in the ch 5 space, sc 1 in the ch 1 space on the corner, trc 15 in the ch 5 space, sc 1 in the ch 1 space, trc 15 in the ch 5 space, sc 1 on the corner, trc 15 in the last ch 5 space, sc 1 in the last sc. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop.
Fold the piece together, with the heart arches on top of each other.
Assembling the heart
Row 1: Attach the yarn in the middle trc of the left heart arch. Insert the hook through both arches. Work ch 3, hdc 1 in next st, *ch 1, hdc 1, * repeat ** 4x. Continue with sc’s until you get to the next heart arch: * sc 1 in the space, sc 1 in a st*. Work sc 3 in the tip of the heart. When you arrive at the next heart arch, in the middle trc, work another hdc 1, ch 1. From the middle trc, continue with hdc 1, ch 1, but only on one side of the heart, to leave an opening in the back. Work a sl st in between the two heart arches, then repeat *hdc 1, ch 1* 7x, and close the row with a sl st. Row 2: In this row, work in the back loop only. Work ch 4, sl st 1 in the first ch of the ch 4, *skip 1 st, sc 1, ch 3, sl st 1 in the first ch of the ch 3*, repeat **. In the middle, between the heart arches, work ch 25, and attach with a sl st. Close the row with a sl st, cut the yarn and pull through the loop.
The white decorative line is worked in the front loops of row 1. Attach the yarn, work ch 3, hdc 3 in the first st, sl st 1 in the next st, *hdc 4 in the next st, sl st 1*, repeat **. Close the row with a sl st, cut the yarn and pull through the loop.
